Dreadlocks..12 Months no combing

September 09, 2009 By: admin Category: dreadlock removal

1 year of no combing/cutting hair….(i still wash my hair regularly)

song is Mary Jane…by Janis Joplin

**PEOPLE IM GLAD YOUR TRYING TO HELP BY GIVING ME TIPS…BUT I HONESTLY DONT NEED THEM…I TRUST NATURE WITH MY HAIR**

If you want to see what my hair was like every month past the 12 months…take a look at this timeline

http://ic3.deviantart.com/fs14/f/2007…

[alot of people ask/tell me these things so i will answer all of them]

do you wash your hair?
your hair must stink
you prob have lice
do you use wax?
what shampoo do you use?
where can i get your shampoo from?
your hair must be greesy
do you do anything to dread your hair faster?
you can get dreads much faster
why dont you buy knottyboy products for faster dreads?

[ok now to answer you all]

yes i wash my hair every 2-3 days…my hair does not stink at all…infact i get alot of compliments and suprised looks when they notice my hair does smell nice….i dont have lice but if i did i would probably have to cut my hair off….i dont use wax in my hair…i dont put ANY hair products in my dreads….i dont use shampoo i use natural/vegan soaps out of personal preferance…..you can buy soaps mostly anywere but i recommend healthstores…my favourite soap is aloe vera soap…..my hair is actualy very dry from the soap so its not greasy at all….nope all i do is what any other person would do but i dont comb my hair….i know i can get dreads much faster….i actualy know alot about dreadlocks but ive chosen to get mine the natural/neglect way….as i prefear what nature chooses my hair to look like…and i enjoy the process of getting dreadlocks much more then the final outcome…and Knotty boy/Dreadhead HQ…is just a big scam….if you TRUELY want help with your dreadlocks go to http://com3.runboard.com/bknottydread…

DREADLOCKS

September 09, 2009 By: admin Category: dreadlock removal

(Please Read)
2 months

forgot to add some music to this video. play your own while you watch.

The video shows a picture of me without dreads, to the days leading to the last set of pictures being my current state of my dreadlocks.

My deadlock journey began on November 9, 2008. And today is January 2, 2009. (About 2 months) all the locks on my head were made by me. I used the backcomb method and i only used the crochet hook method a couple of times to get rid of ridiculous looking loops that formed in the 2nd to 3rd week. I also used the crochet hook to merge some weak locks together. I started out with 60 something dreads, and now I am with 40 and wish to keep it that way.

Besides merging weak locks together and fixing some minor imperfections, I really do not like using the crochet hook at all. Reason being is that I feel that my locks are to the limit of their size. As if they are binded TOO tight together that they wont form into a fatter shape that I want nor have that natural natty look which I prefer over the salon looking dreads that look too stiff. I seen dreadlocks that people have and it seems as though that the hair itself cannot breathe. But as an individual, I understand and respect all ways of achieving anything. Your hair, your way (to each is own). I just prefer it my way, natty, fat, and natural looking.

I myself am of Bangladeshi decent, meaning that I have really straight hair. so the only way I saw myself getting dreads was having to back comb them. I had neglected my hair for long periods of time and saw no considerable amount of tangles. A few here and there but nothing that would become a lock anytime soon.. As much as I like dreads being naturally made, I knew I didnt have that type of hair for the neglect method. So I compromised with myself by back combing it.

I always had a fascination with dreadlocks, all my life, I was scared to pursue them my parents being really strict and all, but one day I just went IT. Dreadlocks are depicted A LOT in my artwork (let me know if you want to check that out). I started with 6 locks in my back and had them for this 2 month anniversary. My front I did a month later. And my middle hairs are about 2 weeks old to date. So all my locks are not the same age. It would have been too much work doing them all in one sitting, so I took my sweet time. :D

I use Dr. Bronners and I also use Organic Aloe and Shea Soaps from personal preference. I wash them every 2 to 4 days. I never used wax, and never plan to. Wax, petroleum, glue, anything thick and/or that is gunk, I would never use, if I were to use anything, I would use water-based stuff that can be washed out with water obviously. If you plan on using wax, or anything like that, then please do know what you are doing. Other than that go for it, its your hair, not anyone elses. I let my hair dry naturally after a wash. I sleep with a satin pillow case. Before I just used a regular pillow case and noticed my baby locks would look up in the morning. The satin pillow case keeps your dreadlocks intact and so far I have seen no noticeable screw ups done to my locks with it.

Dreadlocks go through a lot of phases. From good to bad, to bad to shitty, and from to worse, but eventually they start getting better. Im not sure when my turning point was but this past week especially, they been taking form. Clockwise, counterclockwise, whatever wise rubbing is really good and I recommend you do that then separate afterwards so they dont merge together at the roots (do this regularly). But Im not looking forward for them to lock overnight; the journey itself is the beauty of forming locks. Let your hair do what its got to do.

Locks are locks. Anyone can have em. Never get discouraged if your dreads go through the phases, your dreads will get worse before they get any better. Also keep in mind not everyone can pull off the dreadlock look. The time in which they form and take shape varies on the persons hair type. It can take months, maybe years, also varying on different types of methods. I have experimented with not much, but I did decide to make twists one day with a lock and twist gel from ORGANIC Root Stimulator (pictures in the video). I held them up with double prong clips and after a few hours my hair became really wormy looking. I didnt really hate the look nor did I like the look. It was just whatever.

No I am not Rasta, though I respect and understand their ways. I am not a bum. Do I smoke pot? Maybee (;}) But dreadlocks dont say that otherwise, well for the most part any way.
Remember, clockwise rubbing is the best way to go, and let your hair do what its got to do.

Peace and respect to all, and hope this helps, or encourages you to keep up your lock journey. Never get discouraged. Its a lifestyle, live by it.

If you have any questions, let me know! Good Luck!

Anticipate! Month Number 8! Dreadlock Mania

September 07, 2009 By: admin Category: making dreadlocks

That’s right folks! You too can get your very own…Dreadlocks in a can! woooo!

For ANY of your questions, visit the following website:
http://www.knottylocks.tk or http://com3.runboard.com/bknottydreadlockforum

1. Point number one says, “never comb, enough said.”

2. Keep’ em clean kids. http://www.drbronner.com

3. Wash 1-3 times a week, and you should be good.

4. After washing, dry it the best you can by pressing the towel to your head until you get it as dry as you can that way. THEN, keep on drying it by squeezing the sections of hair with a towel until those sections are dry. Keep on doing this, then review! You cannot stress enough on making sure your hair gets dry.

5. Invest in some beanies, berets, tams, whatever works for you. You will want to keep your hair from blowing in the wind too much/weather/elements/flying pin-weasels/people who want to touch it because they think you’re a petting zoo…which leads into the next number.

6. After a few years, all your dread-anxieties will fade away, because you’ll be glad you waited for your hair to lock up instead of forcing it into something it does not know how to do, so it has to slowly adjust itself into the new form you are trying to work into: The Dread.

Happy Knottyness!

I would like to invite you to allow Jesus Christ to be your best friend. He was born of God, which means He was God made into flesh. He did this so that we can have that one-on-one connection with Him and us. Sin separated us from Him, and the only way this could happen again, was for God to send His Son Jesus Christ as an eternal sacrifice for ALL our sins. You may not believe He exists, but that’s ok, because we all have to come to a point of realization that the only way we can find God, is by talking to Him. How do we talk to Him? Through prayer! Prayer means Talking to God, it’s our way we communicate to Him. When Jesus Christ died for our sins, it gave us that open door to talk to God AND hear from Him too. Ask Him to be made real in your life, and you better watch out, because when you ask God that, He will answer back.

Bottom line, we’re all going to leave this earth one day, and tomorrow is not promised, so why waste another minute “just existing”? He’s there for you, when He knocks on the door of your heart to allow Him in, that’s also the exact time to allow Him into to your life, because “No man comes to the Father, lest the Spirit draws Him.” That Spirit is God getting to you, and through you.

Allow Him to be a part of your life, and you will never be the same again. He loves you with all of His heart, and He would do anything for you allow Him to be a part of your life. I can’t save you, nobody can, but God. Every man(and woman) dies alone, and you have to speak for yourself, because noone else will. God will become your best friend, just ask Him to, ask Him to forgive you of all your sin, and all things you’ve done wrong, because when you do, watch out, because your life is forever changed, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
