Project Wax – The Unexpected End to Our Dread Wax Experiment
The project took an unexpected turn and I’m having to end it early, because my dread was basically ruined. The video is extra long, but the most important parts are probably the first 3-4 minutes, and the final one minute. The rest of it is just me following the rules, and documenting it all.
I do plan on trying this out again in the near future, with darker colored hair. the wax blends with the dread color so you don’t really get the full effect in the video.

This is the very beginning of a 3 month project. There is some debate within the dreadie community about the usefulness of dread wax. The hope is to find out what, if any, damage or difference may be caused due to the use of dreadlock wax. I will be using the wax AS DIRECTED by the major wax selling companies, and both experimental dreads will be exposed to the same everyday activities that my own dreads go through, in order to ensure fair results. This is an ongoing project that I hope to update weekly, so stay tuned!!
i was told by the head honcho to not wax again until I washed the rest out. so that’s what I did! But my waxed dread is super linty, especially compared to the other one. (O_o)
All major wax-selling websites recommend re-applying the wax after you’ve washed your hair. So that’s exactly what I’m doing here. 
The Sites that try to sell dreadlock wax are very vague about their information. One says that you should wax as often as possible w/o making your dread sticky, and another says to do it AT LEAST twice a week. I decided to re-wax after 4 days, when I could no longer feel the waxiness of the first application. This is my second video for this project. Thanks to DT members:
