my dreads are about 5 months old. starting out i used wax and bands then i started using less wax. starting last week i stopped using bands and now my head is all fuzzy. on top of that they are loose at the roots(from the new growth). i don’t know anyone with dreads and i was wondering what to do. should i put rubber bands back on the roots or what? and what should i do bout the fuzzy head?

if you haven’t already.. stop waxing. Slows the locking process down soo much, and besides all the dirt that it collects is gross.
I’ve had my dreads for about 6.5 months now.. and what I do when I get frizzy is root rub, then crochet them..
the vid is basically a howto crochet..pretty simple.

Some people use aloe if the frizzies get really horrible..

well today i wanted to give myself just one dreadlock and so i took a comb and some hair wax and just started combing up and now its like sorta knotty but it kinda looks like a dreadlock how can i make it more defined.

Hey about 3 weeks ago I put in my dreads using no products and just backcombing
the hair into dreads.

The back one’s turned out nice and tight, but a different method
was used (cuz we didnt know what we were doing) on the front and top hairs. So after
after 3 weeks passing the hair started to loose up ad hairs fell out of them and the
back one’s we re fine. But I looked like a homeless kid that just came out of a bush.
and they kept getting looser.

(I have straight hair)
Yesterday my mom convinced me to have them waxed. I said ok (she’s very convincing)
and we went in and I paid 80 dollars for them to stick wax on them and twist them.

Now theyre gooey and sticky and they’re twisted and don’t look tight at all and they look
like **** (Though with no loose hairs) and I don’t know how theyre gonna tighten because
they aren’t tight- JUST TWISTED.
It looks like I could just pull all my dreads apart because the wax is so slippery.

I’m really mad that I did that and I wanna just take all my dreads out (yes I can pull them
apart) and start over again with no products.

I don’t know what to do!

I wanna get dreads here pretty soon, my hair is only about an inch right now though, but it grows fast. So around summer I plan to get dreads and I need help. First two questions: Do I have to have special dread wax or will something like Burt’s Beeswax work? and Can I use the backcombing method with a regular comb or does it have to be a dread comb? Also how long should my hair be before I start dreading? And my last question is How hard would it be to dread someone’s hair thats like straight but it grows up into a fro? I’m mixed so my hair is both black and white.

Just go to some hair stylist and let them do it for youu.

hey guys i’m planing on geting locks but i have a few things i want to know first i bought some hempz hydreating shampoo will that work to wash my dreads also i dont really want to buy kb wax becuse i have heard lots of things saying it just a bad idea so how bad do u really need wax if your backcombing
