Dreadlock making, first time?

February 07, 2010 By: admin Category: dreadlock wax

Riiighttt, i brought myself some of the beezz wax and a finee combbb was wondering what else do i need and coudl any one direct me to some websites of creatign dreadlocks

No don’t go to a salon,
if anything throw the wax away to, and just use the comb
or throw that away and twist&Rip your hair instead,

if you want a site with lots of people with dreadlocks (including look up this site’s creator SoaringEagle whos locks are over 20years old) visit dreadlockssite.com

it recommends minimal maintenance, but in light of all the bad information new methods (most of which are actually harmful to your hair and your locks lifespan) but it is in the best interest of locks that last a much longer lifetime (i.e people who lock their hair as a lifestyle and not as vainly as most)

no matter what your reasons for dreading are, I think it’d be in your best interest to just look around a bit,
anyway peace :)

Can you help me with dreadlock info?

I was wondering if you get dreads from backcombing do you have to backcomb every time you want to fix them up or can you twist your hair? Second how often should you wax your dreads?

hi there,
you must be me from the past, lol anyway
no you should never have to back comb again,
i only did once for one that was straight hair half-way out,

also never wax again, after trying it for months, I realize how harmful it was to my hair, if you stop now you may be able to get it all out within the year.

also unless your hair is like african texture, you should never twist your locks,

you can use pure aloe vera gel to smooth over your hair tho.

check out that website, it helped me alot with mine

Newly formed dreadlock question..?

November 01, 2009 By: admin Category: dreadlock wax

I just dreaded my hair 3 or 4 days ago. i used the back combing method, i didn’t even use wax i used this putty stuff and hardly any of it just added some to de frizz it a bit. Now though i have no idea how to maintain them I roll them everyday and do the circular motion to tighten the roots, but i dontknow if thats all i should be doing or if i should buy all the dread head products they have for tightening and alll that. Anyone have any idea how to maintain newly formed dreads? Could i just leave them be and not put any wax or anything in them for now on ? Are you supposed to wax them everyday and roll them everyday? some one please help

Your hair will dred on its own if you minimize how much you touch it. You should only touch it to pull them apart if they start attaching themselves to other locs.

I made a dreadlock in my hair and can’t untangle it. How do I untangle it?

October 01, 2009 By: admin Category: dreadlock wax

I have always wanted dreads and a beard, but could never have them because I go to a private school, and this isn’t allowed for some odd reason. I brought this wax stuff to make 1 dreadlock in my hair for fun b/c I was bored and wanted to see how it would be. It was really sticky, almost a sticky as super glue. When it dried, it stuck to my skin and I’m still having trouble getting it off my skin. Yesterday, I took some hair, put it on, and twisted it tightly. It was kind of sticky at first, but then it hardened. I did this to the same dread several times throughout the day. I woke up today and tried to untangle it, and no matter what I do, it doesn’t come unloose. If I went to school with this thing in my hair, I’d get in trouble.

How do I untangle it? Will I just have to cut the whole thing off?

Wash it with dish soap, that will help get the wax out, and apply a ton of conditioner and slowly try to comb it out. You may have to wash it and comb it a few times before it finally comes loose.

why do I get Dreadlock Dreams?

September 25, 2009 By: admin Category: dreadlock wax

Hey everyone.

Lately I’ve been having dreams that my hair knots back up into dreadlocks. I get these dreams probably once every 2-3 nights.

I’ve heard of people having dreams that have to do with their dreads anyone know why?? This is so strange.

Before I had dreads, my hair would never knot up and I never used conditioner and never brushed my hair, and my hair was perfectly fine.
Now, my hair automatically falls into little sections and knots up like crazy so I have to condition and brush my hair constantly.

I put in dreads last spring, and a couple months ago I took them out (with much effort).
I had them for a short 2 months, so I could still comb them out with lots of conditioner. I didn’t use wax at first but then somebody told me to put wax in them and then things went awry so I took them out.

Thoughts? Reasons?

Dreams are a fragment of your imagination, experiences, fears or desires and usually don’t mean anything. There are all sorts of claims and conjectures about what dreams mean, mostly based on wish-fulfillment or fears. It’s intriguing to think about because the events of our recent lives seem to play out in our dreams in odd ways, but the "theories" of interpretation are merely someone’s opinion and not based on anything substantial or objective or scientific. Your particular dreams are a reflection of your thoughts and the desire to do your hair a certain way and probably doesn’t mean anything more than that.

Removing Beeswax?

September 19, 2009 By: admin Category: dreadlock wax

So I’ve had braids for about a month or so and to keep the hair together and have it look nice, I applied Proclaim Beeswax to it. I would do it for a few days each week. So today I got my Knotty Boy Dread Kit because I wanted to dreadlock my hair and I need to get my hair frizzy in order to backcomb it for dreads. But the wax from before with my braids won’t come out. I really need help because me and my friend are trying to dread my hair tonight and nothing has worked. I tried dish soap and extremely hot water but that didn’t work. Any other ideas please? I would really like to get this done tonight! =/

Question on dreadlocks…?

September 16, 2009 By: admin Category: dreadlock wax

I have naturally curly hair and I was wanting just ONE SINGLE dreadlock underneath the rest of my hair, right next to my neck.

Do I need to use all that wax and stuff for just one dread?

How long will it take for just a single dread?

And I’m getting my hair dyed soon, will the dread interfere with the dying process?

Please help!
I JUST WANT AN ANSWER! NOT ADVICE! GODDAMN! THIS IS FUCKING ‘YAHOO ANSWERS’ NOT ‘YAHOO GIVE ME SOME BULLSHIT ADVICE’

It has and can be done! I assume you are thinking of dreading that little sucker by yourself? All you need is a metal lice comb. DO NOT waste your money on wax! But do keep in mind that dreadlocks are not instant and can take up to 24months to mature.

How you are planning to maintain the rest of your hair though could have some impact on your dread’s health. Dreads DO NEED TO BE WASHED! Contrary to what ppl above me think! The only difference is that we who have dreadlocks dont use crappy shampoo that leaves residues in your hair. Our shamppo is specially formulated non-residue shampoo. Most of these are vegetable oil based. And we do not condition our dreads with conditioner as this will untangle the matting. But I do wash my dreads every 3 days so blow that misconception out of your rear! Dreads dont like other products either. Your dread will hold a lot more water than your undreaded hair and if you apply any product to that damp dread then you will cause mould and mildew to grow and your dread will smell like old dog!

As for the dying, it would be best to dye before you dread and not use the conditioner that comes with the dye. After you have dyed (hee hee) and your hair is dry – it would probably be the best time to backcomb your little newborn dread. The dye strips your hair of all those oils too. But do be careful when dyeing your existing dread as a buildup of dye right inside your dread could be a little unhealthy for him/her. Make sure you rinse the dye out of your dread throughly.
